Author Bio

Hello everyone! This is Mohammad Yusuf Miah, the author of this ‘mymiah.com’ portfolio website. After completion of my graduation(B.Sc.Fisheries (Hons)) & during my post-graduation(M.Sc.Coastal and Marine Fisheries) I decided to be a researcher and join the scientist communities who study Marine Sciences & Environmental Science world wide. Basically, I’m a young researcher of Marine Sciences. I study Ocean, Environment and Human interventions (especially fisher communities & other relevant stakeholders).  Being a young researcher I have successfully conducted two researches [my works] and their manuscript have published from MDPI & ELSEVIER publishing house.

Besides this passion of research, I’m also a professional Web-developer, Certain Niche oriented Contentwriter/blogger, Data-analyst [SPSS, Excel].

Academic Information (Author)

I’ve completed my graduation- B.Sc.Fisheries (Hons) and post-graduation- M.Sc in Coastal and Marine Fisheries both from Sylhet Agricultural University, Sylhet, Bangladesh, in 2016 and 2019 accordingly. I went to Comilla Zilla School for my Secondary School certificate (SSC) and Comilla Victoria Govt. College for my Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC).

My Mission

  • To Educate people including myself about ocean or marine science and present condition of the environment (at local & global scale). Developing profound research based solutions and frameworks for sustainable utilization and conservation of marine resources as well as the environment. This will help to engage people from all levels with scientist communities to execute new ideas and innovations of gaining sustainability on both use & conservation.
  • To conduct knowledge sharing workshops during on-going research projects with a view to collect and verify/authenticate dynamic research data from the field.
  • To provide new research ideas about important marine habitats around the globe for Marine Scientists. This includes research assistance, rich sources of existing up to date secondary data, demographics of research area/location etc.
  • To create and develop a forum for ocean and environment scientists (specially young researchers) through which they can communicate & collaborate with each other. This will allow them to engage with new research projects and share their findings/discoveries with people of all aspects especially the marine scientists. This forum will also enable marine and environment scientists to reach out to general public with their new discoveries and the possible ways/frameworks of sustainable maintenance/conservation of environment and marine resources.

Why Study Marine Sciences?

  • Marine environments regulate earth’s climate and support the biggest biodiversity of the planet. But this huge biodiversity is degrading everyday at an alarming rate due to destructive and over-exploitation of the resources. So it is our duty to take scientific measures to restore the species diversity as well as the environment to live a healthy prosperous life and leave a healthy legacy for the next generations.
  • Marine environments for example mangroves  provide natural coastal defenses to different human communities living in the coastal zones. Oceans/Seas  are the primary medium of navigation for worldwide trade routes.
  • Also we get renewable energy sources, minerals, different medicinal components and raw materials from oceans and seas.
  • Only 5% of the planets oceanic or marine environments have been explored and more or less 95% is still unknown to us. So, marine habitats are at the frontier of our knowledge and scientists are exploring and discovering amazing new facts about marine life and environments.

Why Study Environmental Science?

Besides this planet earth’ there is no other planet where human population can inhabit or at-least survive. So, we must understand this planet’s environment and it’s natural processes in order to sustain a healthy life.

Depending on the present state of the earth’s climate, more students and researchers are altering their focus towards environmental science and various sustainability studies. Now bigger environmental issues can be solved or mitigated through modern technologies evolved by environmental engineering.

Study of environmental science enable us to-

  • Understand the real crises that the world is facing, for example: loss of biodiversity, climate change, loss of resources, all kinds of pollution etc.
  • Improve skills and knowledge on environmental sciences and sustainability studies.
  • Stay up-to-date about latest environmental researches and emerging technologies that are helping us to study the parameters of nature more accurately.
  • Conduct modern technology based environmental studies.
  • Develop our insight about future environmental studies.
  • Learn about the energy systems and their modeling and simulations.
  • Recognize, how the health of our environment and human health as well as all other living organisms are interlinked.
  • Learn and develop different frameworks to balance the damage/loss of our resources and ecosystems.
  • Understand the integration of life, physical and earth science.
  • Implement science and profound research based solutions for all kinds of environmental problems.
  • Engage more people, communities and organizations in environmental conservation.
  • Know about the importance of recycle and use of bio-degradable packaging materials.

My Thoughts About Practical Life

  • The life is yours, so take your own decision and do what you love.
  • Whatever you do, you will be succeeded if you keep up the hard-work because hard-work always pays off.
  • If you don’t like what you’re doing then stop doing it, change it and start doing what you like.
  • If you’re wasting a lot of your time watching TV and on your social media platforms, minimize it and start buying time for your dream project. If needed stop watching & using them for a while.
  • Life is simple, don’t complicate it by over-thinking.
  • Every person is different from each other but we are united in our differences.
  • Be enthusiastic about new things and people, share your ideas and knowledge with them.
  • You have to understand that some opportunities come once in a life and you have to use your intellect to seize them.
  • If you are an introvert, don’t forget to speak up the least necessary words.
  • Appreciate the food you’re eating, it’s a resemblance of good manner.
  • You will get bored with your work for sure after a certain period of time, in that case make tours, travel to new places. It helps to reboot you mental conditions.
  • Work hard, live your dream and share your passion.
  • Life is short, stop doing unnecessary things and immediately start investing time on useful activities.
  • Think positive & be positive, ignore negative and dark thoughts, spread positivity among people.
